Welcome to American Book Publishers: 1865-1920, a resource and finding aid for U.S. literary publishing in an era of reconstruction, industrialization, and modernization.

The site is organized around some of the nation's major book publishers and aims to provide: an overview of each publisher; information about house authors, book titles, and magazines; and resources for further study. At this time, preliminary pages are available for Houghton Mifflin, J.B. Lippincott, and A.C. McClurg & Co.
