References

Julian Daniel Taylor (1846-1938) was a Latin professor for 62 years at Colby College, Waterville, ME, where two of Fuller's sons went to school. The senior class of 1935 commissioned the work to memorialize his contributions. The Latin inscription comes from Cicero quoting Homer, "speech sweeter than honey flowed from his tongue."
