Text on postcard reads:</p>
<p>"The painted wood mantelpiece (from the Beltz-hoover house, Carlisle, Penn.) is decorated with composition ornaments made by Robert Wellford of Philadelphia. The central panel commemorates the fallen heroes of the War of 1812. Of about this date is the costume: the dress is of blue silk; the bonnet, of yellow straw; the scarf, of embroidered Indian muslin. A French clock of gilt bronze, with finely modeled figure of Washington, is a feature of the mantel ornaments. The two chairs and the stool are by the New York cabinet-maker, Duncan Phyfe.
