The project is one that contains multiple other projects. It contains various digitized maps (Geographical Information Systems) as well as GIS tools and data.

It requires a basic understanding of map reading, world history and geography. It also requires a decent computer.

I am not aware of any alternatives to this project, due to the fact it compiles numerous other projects.

One should learn prior knowledge on the history of the slave trade was, what the major countries in the world are, and various literary and historical events/persons.

The resources are very visual. They are exploratory maps often with limited text.
