This database discusses the early history of the black experience in the American Midwest. It also details the migration of African Americans to the Midwest. It discussed forms of violence and discrimination against African Americans in the Midwest, including information about lynching and police brutality. Several legal cases involved with civil rights are also analyzed and discussed. Finally, it details the different forms of power that African Americans have held in the Midwest, including political power, careers, and media presence.
