There are a few articles about the time period and a directory that can be used for easier access to a specific location.

A browser with basic internet connection is needed and the ability to select the different numbered pinpoints or sections of the website.

Stanford University has a similar map, but the format is slightly different and doesn’t have the same interactive pinpoint design that gives historical context. The Stanford map is centered around travel data. Travel data included is time it takes depending on season, mode of transportation and how much it would cost. This alternative is different but it does include context and information. The format of the map can be changed to zones based on travel costs or a cartogram. Both sources are visually appealing and easy to understand.

You need to know basic information about the Roman Empire and the Augustan Period and basic geographical knowledge about Rome. The maps are easy to view, but having a basic map to view first might make it easier to identify locations since the map has lots of names labeled along with pinpoints to access information about locations. It’s a resource that can be used to learn about the time period with visual aspects so you don’t need lots of prior research to understand it.

Accessibility- The map can be enlarged or minimized which makes it easier to view, also the featured image has a written description in case it is not clear to some people. There are two different options for viewing the map, a street view or a topographic view that allows you to see street names in larger fonts and images.
