Description

The September 11 Digital Archive uses digital media to collect, preserve, and display the history of the terrorist attacks on the United States of America in 2001. It consists of first-hand accounts, emails, phone calls, text messages, photos, and songs that help piece together the timeline of events.

Requirements

A regular browser is needed to open the website. Data can be downloaded and viewed in these platforms: atom, dc-rdf, dcmes-xml, json, omeka-xml

Alternatives

There are no alternate apps that do the same work as the September 11 Digital Archive. It became the Library of Congress' first major digital acquisition in 2003, ensuring the preservation of the project.

Get Started

A general background of the events on 9/11 would be helpful, but is not necessary.

Accessibility

This website does not appear to be fully accessible with a screen reader because there are images and PowerPoints that are not described anywhere else.

Date

September 11th, 2001 will forever be a day that Americans remember as a tragedy. There is life before 9/11 and life after, and national security and unity have been changed since.
