Description

Kneeling robed female embracing young nude standing child.

Accrual Method

Collection was gifted to the Danforth in 2006. Unfortunately they sat uncatalogued for close to 10 years. It took until an IMLS grant awarded in 2015 through 2016 for this collection to be catalogued and put into the collections database. - Rachel 2021 Title and date range changed from research from Eph1.41 scrapbook, Judith Kerr's 1986 thesis, and family inventories. Family inventory called it Adoration. There are several examples of this statue. One bronze is at an unknown external collection, one plaster with Warde and Chrislan in Michigan, and one is in the Danforth's collection.

Condition

Good: Loss of paint on mother's right thigh, back of mother's neck, and along robe on mother's lower left leg.
