Description

Head of a young woman facing forward. Shoulder length straight hair, parted in the middle. The head and neck are placed on a base of similar size though the bottom of the base is extended forward. "#87" is written in pencil on the back and on the bottom, in pencil, is "JOAN BY" followed by 3 characters, possibly "EZZ" or "E22"

Accrual Method

Collection was gifted to the Danforth in 2006. Unfortunately they sat uncatalogued for close to 10 years. It took until an IMLS grant awarded in 2015 through 2016 for this collection to be catalogued and put into the collections database. - Rachel 2021 From Judith Kerr's 1986 thesis states Joan Baez was active in the Civil Rights movement and she also enjoyed Afican American music. Also get date of 1964, changed from past record of 1958.

Condition

Good: A few small chips on top and left side of head. Some darkening on left side. There is pitting on the base on the front edge and the left side
