Description
-
Male figure seated on wall or bench. His head is tilted to one side, and he appears to be asleep or resting, as his eyes are closed. He is well dressed in a waistcoat, jacket and pants. His hat is resting on the wall on his left side. He fulfills his title of "lazy" by sitting with his hands in his pockets and his boots untied. On the bottom of the piece, there is an embedded metal hook in the center.
Supposedly two versions out there, but have come across no images of Lazybones I. At least 4 replicas out there from scrapbook and inventory research. Danforth has two. Meta was inspired by a song (of the same name?) from Johny Mercer and Hogy Carmichael.

Collection was gifted to the Danforth in 2006. Unfortunately they sat uncatalogued for close to 10 years. It took until an IMLS grant awarded in 2015 through 2016 for this collection to be catalogued and put into the collections database. - Rachel 2021 Date changed from 1930 to 1933 due to research.
