Day of Protest 2017
On Tuesday October 31st, 2017 student activists organized a campus-wide walkout after three racist hate crimes occurred in a residence hall. Over 250 members of the FSU community, including students, faculty, and staff gathered to march through campus and demand action from administrators. An article from The Gatepost, as well as photos of the October event are presented here.
A follow-up march occurred in the spring semester, on January 16, 2018 the day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The march was meant to highlight the lack of answers from investigative authorities. The demonstration was met with a positive response and recommitment from school administration to continue developing inclusive policies. A gatepost article of the event is included.
