Massachusetts School of Art (MSA)

In 1926 the school became the Massachusetts School of Art. In the early 1930's, perhaps to commemorate this event, the first school seal was created using the state shield. Also about this time, a logotype was designed, which was used more than the seal. Neither the seal nor logotype were used on stationary. During this period interesting designs were created using the school's initials, "MSA," the school's name, and the state shield. These variations were for the most part one-time cover designs for campus publications.
