Description
-
Saint Francis appears front facing on one part, and backward on the other. There is detail on the robe and face. There are four sculpted buttons on one side of the sculpture that fit into four indentations on the other side of the piece. The work is regular white sculpture on the outside, with releasing agent on the inside.

Accrual Method
-
This piece is in two parts that fit together. It says "mold" but there is no interior "rubbery" like mold. It seems MVWF was trying something "new" with this piece. Collection was gifted to the Danforth in 2006. Unfortunately they sat uncatalogued for close to 10 years. It took until an IMLS grant awarded in 2015 through 2016 for this collection to be catalogued and put into the collections database. - Rachel 2021
